Technology and Mount Timpanogos

This last week while driving to school I looked at Mount Timpanogos and saw a beautiful sun rise. I quickly picked up my iPhone and took a picture.  I didn't have time to zoom in so later that day I opened the photo, cropped it, focused it, and tilted the photo in a matter of seconds.  This would not be possible 5 years ago.  It amazes me how technology affects our everyday lives.

I feel it imperative that everyone is educated in today's technology.  Computer skills are essential in almost every and any field that exists today.  Many people are still not educated in such skills and even though they may be experienced in their specific fields they will fall behind.  The fact that someone can use a computer makes them capable of many things.

I want to be able to always be on top of the latest technology because I know it will help me in whatever field I decide to study.  Technology helps us do our jobs more efficiently only if we know how to utilize it.  Let us all be on top of technology and keep learning how to use it more efficiently.  Let the computer do the work for you.

  1. Love the pictures, and especially that you enjoyed the sunrise. It looks gorgeous. Also, I appreciate your last line about letting the computer do the work for you. Any time we can be more efficient with things that don't matter as much, we ought to be!

  2. Great photo, Jake! Looks like you were up early doing some MCOMM homework this last week. I agree, technology is an amazing tool that allows us to better utilize our time and skills. However, I think there is a need for balance in our use of technology. Sometimes I find myself missing out on something going on right in front of me because I'm reading about some far off place on my cell phone. If I simply put down my phone, I can experience something amazing in person. Technology can help us, but we shouldn't allow it to control us. Great post!

  3. You've made interesting points here. I too agree that technology creates efficiency and if you are well equipped with technology skills, you will be more likely to be given additional tasks and promotions at work. I really like how the curriculum is setup at BYU, they require a diverse skill set, involving IS classes and I know the skills I'm learning right now will help me the rest of my business career.
